Stop The Tab Scroll Annoyance

I've found the new tab scrolling feature in Firefox 2 a little annoying especially that I have most of the time more than 15 tabs opened in the same time. The solution I found was to change the minimum tabs width for which the scrolling is activated, you can put it 75 or 50 it just allow few more tabs displayed together. To change it from about:config Find the variable :

browser.tabs.tabMinWidth and change its value to 50 for example then restart firefox.

Is there a way to have a new tab open immediately to the right of current tab? Currently, with lots of tabs open, there's too much mouse movement required when a new tab is launched because you have to scroll over or click the down arrow and choose the new tab. Keeping the parent tab close would help keep tabs organized too.
