FoxTorrent 1.0 Released, YABTFFE

Yet another BitTorrent firefox extension : FoxTorrent just released today version 1.0, open source cross-platform BitTorrent client for Firefox ! FoxTorrent lets you stream torrents as they download, from your web browser, with zero configuration needed, according to the website while I don't think that streaming media will work with Bittorrent since the protocol is not made for that purpose. Notice also that Red Swoosh, the company behing FoxTorrent, have been acquired earlier this month by Akamai for $15 million, lot of money to make a BitTorrent extension for Firefox ! From FoxTorrent features :
  • Streaming Fast Delivery : Watch video and listen to audio as it downloads.
  • Background Downloading : Continues to work even after your browser window has been closed
  • Complete Firefox Integration : Manage your torrent downloads from your browser window.
  • Low Resource Footprint: Foxtorrent uses less than 8 MB of RAM, and doesn't hog bandwidth.
  • Windows, Mac, and Ubuntu Linux : Consistent downloading experience across all three platforms.
  • Configuration-Free: Automatic support for NATs, uPNP, and firewalls, with no tinkering necessary.
